Graduates Canberra Excursion

Fifteen Year 6 ISMS students and five students from Barrenjoey Montessori School set off for a three day excursion to the nation’s capital this week.

Day One

First stop was the National Portrait Gallery. The students had a wonderful guided tour and had the opportunity to study some of the nation’s most famous paintings. These included a collage of Marcia Langton (advocate for indigenous rights) and a portrait of Captain Cook. They also took part in a shared drawing of sculpture.

After a brief look around the sculpture park our last stop of the day was the National War Memorial. We had an informative and moving tour of the museum. Following this we attended the Last Post Ceremony, where one ISMS student and one student from Barrenjoey laid a wreath in remembrance of a fallen soldier.
