BandFest 2017

 

Today the two ISMS bands, Good Vibrations (Concert Band) and Sax2Bass (Training Band) performed at Engadine Music’s BandFest, two weeks of school band performances in the St George Auditorium in Kogarah.

 

The preparation the band members had put into their band repertoire this term was evident in their performances. Good Vibrations did very polished and exciting renditions of “How to Train Your Dragon’, “Let it go” and “Rolling in the Deep”. Sax2Bass incorporated singing in some of their pieces and memorised much of their repertoire. They demonstrated how to follow their conductor with tempo and metre changes in their ‘night and day’ medley (“Twinkle Twinkle”, “Morning”, and “Doodle all Day”).

 

Both bands were awarded a gold medal by the adjudicator. These are not awarded in a competitive way but are intended as a form of feedback to the band members and are given out according to each band’s level of preparation, focus, musicality, etc, with every band receiving either a bronze, silver or gold medal.
