Another Day in Canberra

Day 2 of our Year 6 Graduates Excursion

Well what an action packed day we had!

After a bright (and slightly chilly!) early start we arrived at the National Arboretum. An area dedicated to native trees planted after a bush fire swept through and decimated the area.

Then it was off to Old Parliament House where we had a tour of the wonderful building. The children were able to see the old House of Representatives and dressed up as the first and last Speaker in that building.

From the old to the New Parliament – we were given a tour of the building including the Senate. We were lucky enough to meet our local MP, Anthony Albanese and attend the Prime Minister’s Question Time in the House of Representatives.

The electoral process was next on our agenda when we visited the Electoral Commission and learned how to vote.

To finish the day, a trip up to Mount Ainslie provided us with a wonderful sunset.
