Mother’s Day
Children at ISMS, regardless of age, are always eager to show their mothers how much they are loved. Recognising Mother’s Day in our classrooms with a special morning tea is the perfect opportunity to incorporate lessons in art and craft, food preparation and also a perfect way to reinforce the lessons of grace and courtesy.
The children are involved in not only making a small keepsake or card for their mum but also in varying degrees in planning the menu, writing a shopping list, purchasing food, cooking the treats and serving the morning tea. The mums are often surprised at how much the children can do collectively when given the opportunity.
The mums are welcomed into the classroom by their own child. They come in, sit down, relax and chat with the other mums. The children are invited to offer their mother tea or coffee and a treat that has been specially prepared for the event. The children then sit with their mums and share some special time showing them some of the work they have been doing and showing them some of the materials they have been working with.
Always an enjoyable event for all!
