Cooking in the Classroom
Practical Life is an essential component of learning for all children in Montessori classrooms.
In Stages 2 and 3, the children cook with and for one another to learn this important life skill. The children also build on their skills of collaboration and expand their experience in following recipes, using cooking tools and preparing food. Most importantly, the children love learning to cook and have a lot of FUN!
In these photos, the children in Stage 2 have cooked Japanese gyoza and English chocolate scones. There were many more meals prepared as the children explored traditional dishes from different countries around the world.
